West Ham United optimistic of deal to sign Filip Kostic
West Ham United “can be optimistic” of signing Eintracht Frankfurt’s 29-year-old wingback Filip Kostic according to Journalist Dean Jones.
The Sun reported (10 July) that the Hammers had launched a bid for the versatile wide man, who was instrumental in the Bundesliga club’s Europa League success.
Former Bleacher Report journalist Jones believes the club should be optimistic of signing Kostic, who the Irons have a £15million bid in for [talkSPORT].

Jones told Give Me Sport on Tuesday 26 July: “I think it’s probably looking at a stage where it will happen.
“I’d say it’s definitely getting close to a time when West Ham can be optimistic of getting it over the line.”
Coup
With Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca about to sign for the Hammers, adding Kostic to their ranks could well take David Moyes’ squad to the next level after their seventh-placed finish in the 2021/22 Premier League season.
The London Stadium faithful were promised progression after leaving Upton Park and they’re finally seeing that this summer.
Nayef Aguerd, Flynn Downes and Alphonse Areola have all strengthened the spine of the Moyes squad and now it appears the marquee attacking additions will be the culmination of an excellent window for the club.
Kostic in particular will provide a completely different aspect to what the Hammers have previously had on the left flank.

He is predominantly a wing-back that operates in a three-at-the-back system, which indicates that Moyes could well employ a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 formation at times next season.
Whether he will be defensively capable in a 4-2-3-1 system remains to be seen.
If Kostic moves to the London Stadium he will be the first choice for Moyes due to his European pedigree and experience.
With that in mind, could we see Moyes deploy a three-at-the-back system for the majority of the upcoming campaign?
