West Ham United: Nayef Aguerd changes representatives ahead of summer transfer

Nayef Aguerd has hired new representatives with an exit from West Ham United expected this summer, according to The Athletic.

Writing on their website (19 April), the news outlet report that the Morocco international has attracted interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia (HITC, 25 March) ahead of the summer transfer window.

And the centre-back, who joined the Hammers in a £30m deal in the summer of 2022, now looks set to move on after changing agents ahead of the window in a clear sign that a deal could be on the cards.

West Ham must prepare for Nayef Aguerd exit

Once the season in east London comes to an end there will be a lot of changes at the club, and everyone involved must be prepared for it.

David Moyes could be leaving the club once his contract expires while Lucas Paqueta also looks set to move on amid interest from Manchester City.

But if Saudi clubs are circling for players like Aguerd too, the likelihood is that they will be able to stump up the funds to convince the Hammers to let them go since he has largely struggled to be first-choice since arriving.

West Ham
Nayef Aguerd has made just 39 Premier League appearances since arriving at West Ham in 2022.

With Dinos Mavropanos brought in last summer and interest in Harry Maguire still lingering as a potential target for this year, there is obviously an idea in mind to replace him.

If the club can bring in what they spent on him then they will be delighted with the business they’ve been able to do, but they must ensure he is replaced properly considering the issues the team already has with squad depth.

In other West Ham news, the club’s stance on Mohammed Kudus’ future has emerged amid interest from Liverpool and Arsenal.
