West Ham United may still sign Fabricio Bruno after fresh transfer twist

West Ham move to sign Fabricio Bruno is not completely off the cards despite a wage dispute, according to Tim Vickery.

The BBC journalist watched him over the weekend as Flamengo enjoyed a 6-1 victory over Vasco de Gama with Bruno playing the full 90 minutes.

The 28-year-old is not understood to be satisfied with the financial package offered by the Hammers, but there is a feeling amongst the team that he is on his way out.

Vickery told West Ham Network on 6 June at 9:15: “I was watching him on Sunday and talking to people much closer than this than I am who are saying it still could happen.

“They [his teammates] were still expecting him to go although there are other (clubs). There’s a possibility of Saudi Arabia as well.

“As I understand it, he didn’t think the money he was getting was worthwhile. Given the fact that the cost of living in London is higher than the cost of living in Rio.”

West Ham must weigh up the pros and cons before offering Fabricio Bruno more money

Bruno won the Campeonato Estadual do Rio de Janeiro in 2024 and last season guided his team to an impressive title challenge, finishing just four points behind the eventual winners.

If the Hammers genuinely believe the Brazil international strengthens their squad, offering a higher salary to secure his services would be a logical step.

On the other hand, if Saudi clubs are also interested and willing to offer substantial financial packages, West Ham might struggle to compete.

The allure of a lucrative deal in the Saudi Pro League could sway Bruno’s decision, making it challenging for the London club to secure his signature.

Ultimately, the Hammers must weigh the potential benefits of adding Bruno to their defence against the financial commitment required.

If they believe he significantly improves their team, they should consider adjusting their offer to remain competitive in the transfer market.
