Raisa Simplicio has labelled reports that Fabricio Bruno demanded £100,000-a-week to join West Ham United as "Crazy".

The Brazil Goal journalist posted on X admonishing reports that the Flamengo centre-back's move to the London Stadium was stalling over his wage demands.

Previously, HITC had shared that with Hammers technical director Tim Steidten in Brazil to close the deal, Bruno had asked for £100,000-per-week, putting the deal under threat.

Discussing that news, Simplicio said that "crazy" stories such as these come in every country and language, adding that the current exchange rate between the British Pound and Brazilian Real is so vast that those reported wage demands just aren't believable.

Will West Ham sign Fabricio Bruno?

The Irons' hierarchy sent Steidten out to Brazil in a bid to close deals for two transfers - but after the reported stalling of Bruno's move to the club, it's not been a successful trip thus far.

New head coach Julen Lopetegui has wasted no time in pursuing several transfer targets, giving most of his attention to the defence since arriving through the doors last month.

Brazilian international Bruno is one of several players seemingly on the verge of signing a contract with the Hammers, but if talks over this can't be resolved in the coming days, the Irons may be inclined to move on from the 28-year-old centre-back.

A deal worth £12.5million plus add-ons had reportedly been agreed for the defender, but if his move falls through, Steidten and Lopetegui may be forced into playing much more for a player such as Wolves captain Max Kilman.

Either way, West Ham will still be confident that they can secure Bruno's signature, and if this doesn't come to pass, their proactive stance in the transfer market so far this summer leaves them plenty of time to find an alternative choice.
