West Ham United make Lucas Paqueta transfer decision after cryptic post

West Ham United have no interest in sending Lucas Paqueta out on loan ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to West Ham Football.

The Hammers source reported on X [18 December] that the East London club have no intention of letting the Brazilian leave for free or a minimal fee and will wait for the outcome of his FA tribunal before deciding on his future.

In a social media post before the Bournemouth clash on Monday [16 December], the midfielder posted lyrics to a gospel song on his social media with “I will return home”, linked with Flamengo, who are interested in the 27-year-old.

A rift between Paqueta and Julen Lopetegui has been mooted in recent weeks, but after scoring his penalty at the Vitality in the 1-1 draw, the Brazil international kissed the Irons’ badge and hugged the Spanish manager.

Lucas Paqueta still has lot to offer at West Ham United

The 27-year-old was one of the best players in the Premier League just a few months back, but the betting case against him seems to have affected the playmaker.

Paqueta has struggled to find his feet in the current campaign and looks like a shell of his former self.

The Brazilian’s performances have been sub-par, with three goals in 18 appearances in all competitions.

West Ham made some quality additions to their squad in the summer, but Lopetegui has failed to bring the best out of them, leading to questions about his future at the London Stadium.

The Spaniard might be a reason for the 27-year-old’s below-par displays, and a change in manager could change his fortunes.

What is undeniable is the fact that the midfielder has the potential to play for the biggest teams in the world, and the only thing holding the playmaker back could be his own self.
