West Ham United finalising terms on £25m deal to sign Nayef Aguerd from Rennes
West Ham are “finalising terms” on a deal to sign Rennes centre-back Nayef Aguerd for £25million, according to the Mail on Sunday.
The newspaper reported via their print edition on 12 June (page 144) that the Irons are close to wrapping up a deal to sign the 26-year-old Morocco international.
David Moyes hasn’t made any new additions to his senior squad at the London Stadium since the 2021/22 season ended but Aguerd looks as though he could be the first.
No rush
At this stage of the summer, there’s no rush to get the deal done because we’re only just approaching mid-June.
The summer transfer window only opened officially on Friday (10 June) and it doesn’t look as though there’s a reason for a deal for Aguerd to break down.

Once he’s arrived to solve the left-sided centre-back issue at the London Stadium, Moyes really needs to press on with strengthening his attack and midfield positions.
Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek have seen their futures come under scrutiny and Mark Noble’s retired and Alex Kral’s returned to Spartak Moscow.
In the attack, Andriy Yarmolenko has left and there’s the obvious need for a new centre-forward to rival Michail Antonio for a spot in Moyes’ starting line-up.
West Ham also need to sign a new goalkeeper to challenge Lukasz Fabianski for the number one spot, although a permanent deal for Alphonse Areola seems to be the likely outcome there.
Aguerd should be a strong addition to the side.
Let’s hope he can do as well at West Ham as he has done in Ligue 1 with Rennes.
