West Ham United deal for Gianluca Scamacca progressing well – journalist

West Ham are yet to agree personal terms with Gianluca Scamacca but a deal is “progressing well”, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

The Hammers have had a bid of €40m (£34m) plus €7m (£6m) in add-ons accepted for the Italian international according to Alfredo Pedulla.

And while a deal has been agreed in principle [90min, July 15] for the 23-year-old to arrive at the London Stadium, personal terms are still yet to be agreed and a deal is not completed as of writing.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, journalist Bailey said; “Terms not agreed with player etc – deal is not completed – but progressing well.”

Paris Saint-Germain are said to be interested in the striker too, but they’re not willing to pay Sassuolo’s asking price which gives West Ham an edge in getting a deal done.

Huge

Scamacca would be a highly impressive signing for the Hammers this summer, especially if Chelsea are keen to keep Armando Broja which seems to be the case at the moment.

The Albanian had been the number one target for the window, but reports now suggest that Scamacca has that title and with word that talks are progressing well this could get done.

Scamacca scored 16 goals in Serie A last season in what was his big breakthrough season, and French giants PSG are also in the race for his signature. But with a deal for Hugo Ekitike now close for him to go the French champions, their pursuit of Scamacca could be in doubt.

West Ham are desperate to sign a new striker to provide depth and competition for Michail Antonio, who has been the only senior striker at the club since the departure of Sebastian Haller in January 2021.
