West Ham United advance in bid to sign Carlos Soler as talks continue – Fabrizio Romano

West Ham United are “advancing” in their attempts to sign Carlos Soler with talks having taken place, according to Fabrizio Romano.

As explained in Romano’s daily briefing on Friday [23 August], the Hammers have held discussions with both Soler’s camp and his club Paris Saint-Germain, with an eagerness to bring in the midfielder before the transfer deadline next Friday night.

A £19.5m deal (plus bonuses) has been mooted for Soler to leave the French capital for that of England [Le Parisian, 22 August], having made 63 appearances for PSG since arriving from Valencia in 2022.

Romano also notes that the club are still working to trim the squad and recoup some funds, but that no imminent sales are on the cards as it stands.

West Ham United chase Carlos Soler

To mixed accuracy at times which has recently become more successful, West Ham’s transfer policy has been industrious this summer as Tim Steidten looks to provide Julen Lopetegui with a new-era squad.

Nine exciting new recruits have come through the door following the signing of teenager Mohamadou Kante this week, who has been loaned back to his club Paris FC.

In terms of the giants of Paris, PSG look to be willing to part with Soler as they undergo a rebuild of their own, 12 players already leaving Luis Enrique’s side over the summer.

Teenage midfielder Joao Neves has been signed for over £50m, which swings the door open for 14-cap Spanish international Soler to switch to the Premier League.

The unwavering bold approach from the Irons, already having spent around £123m, will hopefully for the London Stadium faithful give them an exciting European push in 2024-25.
