West Ham transfer update emerges on Ezechiel Banzuzi as deadline-busting deal eyed

West Ham United still hope to finalise a move for Ezechiel Banzuzi in the winter window despite the transfer stalling, according to Jacob Steinberg.

The Guardian journalist reported via his personal X account (24 January) that even though the deal is currently “stalled” the Hammers’ interest still remains.

The report also adds that despite the club and Banzuzi being in limbo at the moment, there’s still “hope” that a deal will happen before the winter transfer window closes on 3 February.

West Ham United and Graham Potter need to bring in some new players

Since Graham Potter was appointed as the Hammers’ boss, there have been several rumours about where West Ham’s interest in the market lies.

It’s evident that they need some sort of attacking reinforcement after Niclas Fullkrug was once again ruled out for an extended period but they also need a creative force in the centre of the park.

Indeed, Carlos Soler was brought in during the summer transfer window to try and be that person but due to his inconsistency, it’s unclear whether he’s the right man for Potter and his men.

Banzuzi has played two games across all competitions for the Belgian Super Lig team and has contributed to seven goals in that time.

While his natural position is that of number 10, he’s more or less played across the entirety of the front line throughout his career.

At the moment, it’s unknown how many new faces West Ham are going to add to their ranks but one thing is for sure, they need to get their deals done quickly otherwise things at the London Stadium could end up going from bad to worse.
