West Ham ready Douglas Luiz transfer as agents get to work quickly
West Ham are finally making progress in the transfer window after the sale of Mohammed Kudus.
The £55million raised from Kudus joining Tottenham has already allowed Graham Potter’s side to bring in El Hadji Malick Diouf in recent days.
With Carlos Soler returning to Paris Saint-Germain following his loan move, the Hammers are now on the lookout for a new midfielder and might have found the perfect option.
Step forward, Douglas Luiz.

West Ham join Everton in the race for Luiz
West Ham have recently joined Everton in the race to sign former Aston Villa midfielder Luiz.
The Brazilian has joined Liverpool star Harvey Elliott on the shortlist of midfielders Potter wants to bring to the London Stadium.
Corriere dello Sport has reported in its print edition (16 July, pg 4) that West Ham are joined by Everton in the race for the central midfielder.
Both clubs have enquired about Luiz’s situation, with the midfielder being told that he is not in Juventus’ plans for next season.
It is said that intermediaries are moving quickly to find a solution, with the Brazilian now up for sale.
Season | Apps | Goals | Assists |
2023/24 | 35 | 9 | 5 |
2022/23 | 37 | 6 | 6 |
Total | 72 | 15 | 11 |
Luiz has struggled to find form after switching from Aston Villa to Juventus, but the 29-year-old has previously shown that he can perform in the Premier League.
With a reported asking price of just £35million, Luiz would be a bargain relative to other possible targets in midfield.

Luiz signing would relieve West Ham supporters’ worries
West Ham had a very slow start to the transfer window, which will have worried many supporters.
However, the sale of Kudus has now relieved the Hammers’ worries with the Profit and Sustainability rules, and Potter’s side can now look to spend.
There is still plenty of work to do this summer as the Irons need to reduce the suffering caused by last season’s transfer windows and must make sure they challenge towards the right end of the table again.
After losing Soler, it would be wise for West Ham to secure a Premier League-proven midfielder in his prime for relative peanuts.
