West Ham new signings timeline outlined with Nils Koppen work permit due
West Ham are closing in on appointing Nils Koppen as their new director of player recruitment.
There has been plenty of turmoil behind the scenes at the London Stadium since they were relegated from the Premier League.
Max Hahn had been leading the recruitment since Tim Steidten departed in 2025.
However, West Ham's former Head of Recruitment left his post in May, leaving a big vacancy to fill.
Koppen looks set to be the main port of call when it comes to transfers this summer.
Supporters will be wondering when deals are going to be completed, given that the Championship season is rapidly approaching.
When will transfers start to move at West Ham?
The former Rangers man is widely expected to link up with the E20 side shortly.
A report from Sky Sports on Friday claims that a deal is close with a work permit needed to be granted for the latest backroom appointment.
It states that once Koppen is confirmed, then transfer activity will start to move on.
It states that he is set to work with Nuno Espirito Santo, sporting director Mark Noble and the board as a part of a new leadership structure.
That will be a relief to Hammers fans, who are keen to see their side bolster their squad.
What positions are they targeting in the market?
The Hammers need several reinforcements in the market this summer, and the total could depend on outgoings.
They will likely need a new midfielder if Mateus Fernandes departs as expected, with Tottenham leading the race for his signature.
A replacement for Jarrod Bowen could also be on the cards if he decides to end his six-year association with the Hammers.
The Irons are understood to be looking at wingers anyway, with the likes of Abdul Fatawu and Dwight McNeil being targeted.
It is understood that they may also look for defenders and a goalkeeper, depending on whether certain players stay or not.
Whether Koppen changes the focus when he comes through the door remains to be seen, but surely he will just offer new player suggestions rather than pivoting completely.
That could happen, but he is more likely to direct them to alternative targets that he knows about from his contacts and previous experience.
