West Ham made approach to seal Real Madrid transfer agreement
West Ham United made contact with Real Madrid in an attempt to sign Brazil striker Endrick in January, according to TBR Football.
The online outlet reported on 4 February that the Irons were one of several Premier League clubs to make contact with Real Madrid over his availability last month after the 18-year-old stayed put.
The Hammers took their approach a step further by reaching out to the Brazilian’s representatives, but their attempts “fell flat” with neither Endrick nor Madrid keen for him to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.
Evan Ferguson’s signature was sealed on Deadline Day after his loan move from Brighton was completed, with the Irons quickly moving on from Endrick to secure Graham Potter’s top target.
Endrick approach shows much-needed ambition at West Ham
Given the Hammers’ now-departed technical director, Tim Steidten has had next to no impact on their transfer dealings in the winter window, it’s somewhat bizarre to see that Endrick remained a target.
The Brazilian has been on Steidten’s radar for some time in East London and was the subject of a loan bid last summer, but as was the case then, West Ham have been met with a definitive no once more.

With Steidten displaced in the recruitment structure by Kyle Macauley and now finally given his marching orders from the London Stadium, it remains to be seen if interest in Endrick rears its head again.
Potter and his long-time associate Macauley’s influence on a shift in transfer policy has been made clear this winter, with Ferguson a player well-known to the new Irons boss from their time together at Brighton.
Sealing the signature of Endrick would have been one hell of a coup for Steidten, but given the results of his recruitment last summer, it’s safe to say that the Brazilian dodged a bullet.
