West Ham in £35m Yann Bisseck transfer chase as Tim Steidten trump card emerges
West Ham United are competing against Tottenham for the signing of Yann Bisseck ahead of the January transfer window, according to CaughtOffside.
The outlet reported via their website on Friday (20 December) that the London clubs are ready to step up their interest in the Inter Milan defender after sending scouts to watch him in action against Parma on 6 December and being impressed by him.
Inter have not decided if they want to sanction a transfer for the 24-year-old in January, but could find it hard to turn down offers in the region of £35million, which both the Irons and Spurs are prepared to offer.
The Hammers, though, may have an advantage over the North London outfit in this instance due to the German connection involving Tim Steidten.
Tim Steidten to help West Ham bring Yann Bisseck to London Stadium
Julen Lopetegui’s side made two major additions to the centre-back department in the summer, bringing in Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo.
However, the Hammers have been susceptible to leaking goals this season, conceding 29 times in 16 Premier League games and managing only three clean sheets.
Furthermore, Todibo’s future at the London Stadium is in doubt after he was reported involved in a bust-up with Lopetegui during the 5-2 defeat to Arsenal on 30 November [ExWHUEmployee].
It is, therefore, easy to see why West Ham are in the market for a new centre-back.

Inter, though, are under no pressure to sell Bisseck, who is contracted to the Serie A giants until 2029 after penning a new deal in November.
The German has also been a regular for the Milan giants, making 17 appearances across all competitions this season.
Should a transfer be possible, it would make more sense for him to join Lopetegui’s side as he is unlikely to play often when Ange Postecoglou’s first-choice centre-back pairing of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are fit.
In other West Ham news, this Lopetegui regular is ready to quit the Irons and return to his home country.
