Lucas Paqueta wants to quit West Ham, agreement was reached

Lucas Paqueta is ready to quit West Ham United and move back to Brazil, according to GOAL.

It is said that the Irons no longer consider the playmaker as a non-negotiable, and are open to letting him leave the London Stadium for good money.

With his trial for alleged betting offences set for March 2025, it is expected FIFA would ban him from their major competitions immediately if he is found guilty.

Even if found innocent though, it is said that Paqueta still wants to return to his homeland.

It was even revealed that the midfielder had already agreed to join Flamengo in Brazil in the last transfer window, but the Hammers blocked the move.

GOAL did report that West Ham refused to sue Paqueta, which is likely due to his ongoing betting charge.

Despite wanting to quit, the midfielder has started to enjoy his football more, scoring in the 1-1 draw at Bournemouth and even kissing the badge on 16 December.

It will be interesting to see what happens in January, but it is certain that the mega-money offers from the likes of Manchester City in the past will not be seen again.

Especially if he were to move to Brazil, there would be very little finances involved, but if he is found guilty at trial, it may be best to cut ties and move on.

For now, Julen Lopetegui will continue to select his best players as he tries to save his job at the London Stadium following a below-par start to life in east London.
