West Ham have already been told why they should sign 'intelligent' Alpha Toure
Alpha Toure could still move to West Ham this summer.
The Hammers have been tracking the FC Metz midfielder since the winter transfer window.
Nuno Espirito Santo is looking to bolster his squad to try to earn immediate promotion back to the Premier League.
Toure is understood to be prepared to play in the Championship, according to Alan Nixon.
Given that Tomas Soucek is currently being assessed for an injury suffered at the World Cup, further depth in defensive midfield is vital.
The 20-year-old has already been praised heavily in his time with the French club, and would fit the bill for the Irons.
What has been said about West Ham target Alpha Toure?
It is no surprise that Toure is still being linked with the E20 side, as he possesses all the attributes needed to succeed in the second tier.
His former manager at Metz, Stephane Le Mignan, was emphatic in his praise in April 2025.
The Maroons were in contention for promotion to Ligue 1 at the time, and the boss opened up on what he brought to the side.
In quotes reported by Wiwsport, he said: “With his high energy levels, Alpha Touré covers 12 km per match, he has the stamina to repeat efforts and is very technically sound…
"He’s an intelligent player who thinks a lot, and these are positive points for the rest of his career.”
That should act as a message to the East London side, they have already been told why they should sign the £6m-rated gem, who has rejected a move to Saudi Arabia, per Africa Foot.
What do Toure's second tier stats imply about a move to West Ham?
Given that the Irons are in the Championship, it makes sense to look at the player's data from his time in Ligue 2, rather than in the top-flight last season.
Toure played 16 times in France's second tier in the 2024-25 campaign, for a total of 707 minutes as his side won promotion, per Fotmob.
He averaged a 89.2 per cent pass completion rate, creating 0.64 chances on a per 90 basis.
The Senegalese ace recorded 2.67 tackles, 4.46 ball recoveries and 1.27 clearances per game.
In terms of duels, he won 49.4 per cent on the ground in France's second division, but just 37.5 per cent in the air.
Those are solid numbers that suggest he could do a job for the Hammers if he was required to step in immediately, if Soucek is not available to allow him to bed in slowly.
