West Ham United have had quite the shake-up at board level over the last few months.

First Karren Brady has stepped away from her role at London Stadium, and now David Sullivan has withdrawn from the West Ham board.

It leaves a lot of uncertainty in E20 and the new structure of the board will likely be revealed in due time.

However, shareholder Daniel Kretinsky and Vanessa Gold are now said to be running West Ham, according to reports.

With that being the case, Kretinsky could have some influence over the transfer dealings at London Stadium, and his first point of action should revolve around Nuno Espirito Santo.

Nuno Espirito Santo's influence over transfers should be reduced

Keeping Nuno at West Ham was undoubtedly a major coup for the Hammers, but concerns over his talent ID are valid.

Recent information shared by The Athletic has stated that West Ham are "hopeful" to keep Adama Traore in East London ahead of next season.

As things stand, he will become a free agent at the beginning of July. However, handing out that new contract would be an utterly ridiculous transfer move for the Irons.

Traore has had minimal impact since arriving in the winter window, and while he would be a free transfer and help ease financial worries in that regard, there is certainly better options out there.

Winning back promotion is the aim for the Portuguese manager, and Traore does not have the required final product for an attacker.

While it has not been confirmed to be Nuno pushing for the transfer, West Ham's wish to keep Traore has all the markings of the manager's fingerprints.

It feels like the Portuguese chief's sentimentality for a player he has managed for 143 games throughout his career is the overarching reason for this hope.

Since he arrived in E20, Hammers fans could probably count on one hand the number of positive moments Traore has had in the claret and blue, if they can even name one.

Would Traore need to reduce his wage demands at West Ham?

While keeping Traore is not a good move at any level, it would be even worse if his salary was not drastically reduced.

The Irons are already looking to keep Jarrod Bowen on his full Premier League salary in an attempt to keep him.

Traore is reportedly on £70,000 per week, and in the Championship that is quite a steep wage.

It remains to be seen if the Spaniard is even open to that possibility, as he also attracts attention back home in Spain.
