West Ham bid £6m for West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone
West Ham only offered £6million to West Brom in their bid to sign goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, according to Sky Sports.
On Wednesday night, The Athletic reported that the Baggies had turned down a bid for the 28-year-old as it fell well short of their valuation.
Now, Sky Sports reported on their Transfer Centre [Thursday, 02:13pm] that West Ham’s bid was £6million and ” not in one cash lump sum”.

Unsurprisingly, it’s been rejected by West Brom, who want £20million for the England goalkeeper [Telegraph].
Never going to be accepted
West Brom are in a weak position with Johnstone.
Despite playing so well for the Baggies last season as they were relegated, Johnstone is in the last year of his contract.
The Midlands club must know that they will be very lucky to get anywhere near £20million for a player who they could lose for nothing next summer.
However, our offer of £6million was never going to be accepted.
It was worth a go to try and see if it can get a reaction out of the former Manchester United goalkeeper to see if it can turn his head. But in all reality, the Baggies were always going to reject it.
Johnstone was superb for them last season despite conceding so many goals and they would have been relegated far sooner if it wasn’t for some heroic saves he made to help see out wins and draws.
He’d have been good competition for Lukasz Fabianski, who’s also in the last year of his contract so we could always go back in for Johsntone next year on a free transfer if he doesn’t find a new club this summer.
In other West Ham news, the Irons are in talks to sign this player who could be a mainstay for Moyes next season.
