Villarreal stance on loan-to-buy Nayef Aguerd transfer after West Ham United exit update
Villarreal and Real Sociedad don’t want an obligation to buy clause included in a late deal for West Ham United’s Nayef Aguerd, according to Xavi Sidro.
The Radio Castellon broadcaster reported via X on Friday (30 August) that both Spanish sides are desperate to sign the Moroccan defender “no matter what” before the window slams shut at 11pm.
However, the potential obligation to buy the centre-back is complicating any potential deal with both teams not keen on a mandatory purchase clause being included in any loan switch this summer.
Will Nayef Aguerd exit West Ham before transfer deadline?
West Ham United simply have to find a way to get Aguerd off of their books before the transfer window slams shut this summer, whether that be on a permanent, loan, or even a loan-to-buy basis in the coming days.
Julen Lopetegui’s side won’t want to find themselves in a position where they are lumbered with the defender’s services again in a year’s time, but they equally won’t want him to be left rotting on the bench for the next few months.
If they have to remove a mandatory purchase option from any potential deal to get Aguerd off of their books for the next few months, that may well be a price worth paying as it will at least solve the immediate issue they’re facing.
Ultimately, the Hammers will have to decide what is more important to them at this stage of the summer. Do they risk not loaning Aguerd out, or just accept the fact they may have to sanction a straight loan deal instead?
Hopefully, a solution can be found sooner rather than later before the transfer window slams shut this evening.
