That is going to massively frustrating for the Irons, but their own poor recruitment style is to blame.

The claret and blue outfit simply had to make changes in January with the hope of staying in the Premier League.

That always looked like a long-shot and it proved to be exactly that.

Castellanos came in for £25m on a four-and-a-half year deal and it is exactly that which causes problems.

Putting the two-cap Argentina international on such a lengthy deal with relegation looking so likely always had the chance of making him unhappy down the line.

Someone who has made 234 career top-flight appearances and 18 in European competition isn't going to want to play in England's second tier.

That is exactly how things have transpired and Castellanos could cause a stir in the dressing room to get his own way.
