Why Taty Castellanos can forget about his wish in West Ham exit latest

Taty Castellanos continues to face an uncertain future at West Ham United.

The Argentine completed a January switch to the London Stadium with the aim of keeping the Hammers in the Premier League.

He wasn't able to do that despite putting up seven goals in his first half season wearing claret and blue.

A campaign in the Championship now lies ahead, with pre-season already underway.

The 27-year-old found the net against Stevenage on Wednesday as his summer got up and running in the best possible way.

It may prove to be a busy period for Castellanos as he now sets his sight on a departure.

Taty Castellanos could force West Ham exit

There is plenty of excitement surround the forward moving into the second tier.

He has plenty of top level experience having scored 22 goals for Lazio and 14 for Girona since 2022.

The forward should be set to thrive in the Championship, but it appears that he doesn't want that for his career.

That comes after Brazilian journalist Pablo Oliveira reported via X on Friday that his agents are looking to take Castellanos to another club.

They are on the lookout for a move as Castellanos seemingly doesn't want to stay in E20 after relegation.

A departure will be difficult to organise, though, as West Ham want between £25million and £30m to recoup what they paid in January.

There are no offers currently on the table, but the striker's desire to leave could prove to be decisive.

A loan with an option to buy could be the most likely scenario, although the forward may soon feel let down.

Why Castellanos won't leave West Ham

Even if Castellanos has his heart set on an East London exit, the ball is firmly in the Irons' court.

The Argentine only joined in January and put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half year deal with an option to extend for a further year.

That will keep him under contract until the summer of 2030 at least, but he is looking to cut that short four years early.

West Ham will benefit from that as it allows them to demand a sizable fee and a chance to at least break even on the signing.

Also, it is highly unlikely that anyone is going to pay up to £30m for him, so that doesn't help Castellanos at all.

He needs to end this dream of a move to a top-flight side and focus on what he can do in the Championship.
