West Ham are keeping tabs on Roma striker Tammy Abraham, who is open to a return to England this summer, according to HITC.

The online source has reported [7 May] that the Hammers had scouts in attendance as the 26-year-old substitute scored during a 2-2 draw against Napoli on Sunday 28 April.

It is understood that the Irons will face plenty of competition, with Newcastle United, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and newly-promoted Leicester City all named.

Roma are open to letting the former Chelsea star go this summer to finance a permanent transfer for Romelu Lukaku, said to cost in the region of £30million.

Despite Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen all being part of the Hammers' attacking arsenal, it is clear that a new striker could be needed.

Michail Antonio has been a long-standing servant since arriving at the London Stadium in 2015, yet his proneness to injury and a total of six league goals this season has caused some fans to ask for a replacement.

While the Jamaican still can be a backup next season, he could be a victim of a West Ham rebuild this summer as Julen Lopetegui looks set to replace David Moyes as manager.

Abraham seems like a very sensible target. The 26-year-old has plenty of experience in the Premier League in his time with Chelsea and game time in Italy could be hard to come by if Lukaku's transfer is made permanent.

The Englishman has only just returned from a serious injury, seeing him miss 40 games after sustaining a cruciate ligament injury on the final day of the 2022/23 season.

Abraham certainly can impress at the London Stadium if West Ham were serious about the transfer move, having scored 17 goals during his first campaign in Serie A two seasons ago.
