Sky Sports Germany journalist drops new Andre Silva-West Ham transfer update
West Ham United have been “in the mix” for Andre Silva with RB Leipzig still willing to sanction an exit for the striker, according to Philipp Hinze.
The Sky Sports Germany reporter posted on his X page (30 January) with the latest update on Silva, who is highly anticipated to leave the Bundesliga in the coming days.
The Irons have shown an open and strong interest in the 29-year-old, with Graham Potter desperate for forward additions before the 3 February deadline.
“André Silva – someone we need to keep a close eye on until Deadline Day. Still on the market,” Hinze shared.
“Leipzig are still open to a sale or a loan. Silva has already had several interested parties, but no final breakthrough yet.
“Recently, West Ham were also in the mix.”
West Ham United should punt for Andre Silva at this stage
While plenty of developments can rush through in the final four days of a transfer window, West Ham could do a lot worse than securing Silva at least for the rest of the season.
Leipzig would prefer a sale to recoup an instant fee on the Portugal ace, and the Irons are willing to part with players considered immediately surplus such as Luis Guilherme to help fund a deal.
Only Danny Ings is a fit senior striker at Potter’s disposal and the head coach is desperate for further options to work with, as Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug continue their lengthy spells on the sidelines.
Silva has a healthy goalscoring record at both club and international level and would be having his first crack at the Premier League, a long contract in which it appears to be now or never for a player turning 30 this year.
He has been at Leipzig since 2021 at the Bundesliga outfit are happy for all parties to move on – whether the Hammers can strike a deal in the next 100 hours is another matter.
In other West Ham news, the Irons have made a pre-contract offer for an England international in a considerable update.
