Roma to hold further talks with Crysencio Summerville agents as sticking point emerges
Roma are planning to hold further talks over a move for West Ham United ace Crysencio Summerville.
The Netherlands winger looks certain to depart London Stadium following the Hammers' relegation from the Premier League.
Summerville was one of the Irons' better performers last season, and is attracting plenty of interest in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United were among the teams most prominently linked, but their intest likely hinges on whether they sell Marcus Rashford.
The likes of PSG, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Fulham, and Al-Hilal have all been credited with an interest as well.
Serie A club Roma have been making progress in their attempt to win the race for the 24-year-old winger, but there is one stumbling block to overcome.
Roma face stumbling block in Crysencio Summerville pursuit
West Ham Zone has previously covered reports of Summerville's agents meeting with Roma representatives.
Sky Sport Italia has now reported that those talks did indeed take place on Tuesday.
The Giallorossi hierarchy is said to have made clear their intentions to move ahead with a move for Summerville this summer.
However, right now, the sticking point is that West Ham's asking price is said to be too high for Roma.
Summerville's agents are now said to be going back to West Ham to see if they will lower their demands to sanction a sale.
As such, Roma and Summerville's agents have apparently agreed to meet again in the coming days to continue talks over the deal.
How much do West Ham want for Summerville?
There is really no reason why West Ham should budge on their demands for Summerville given the high interest in his services this summer.
Previous reports have suggested that the Hammers want £50million to sanction a sale for Summerville.
That was the fee Man United were said to have been quoted as they sought to complete a deal for Summerville.
In today's market, that seems more than a fair price, and frankly the Hammers should not be considering lowering their demands.
They held their ground to get the £85m valuation they placed on Mateus Fernandes, with Tottenham eventually stumping up the cash.
The Hammers need to show the same resolve here with Summerville. If Roma want his signature, they need to show the money.
