Ray Winstone shares exactly why he loves Jarrod Bowen despite West Ham exit latest
West Ham United are bracing for the potential departure of talisman Jarrod Bowen.
With the Hammers condemned to the Championship, the wideman was always going to be one of the first linked with a move.
This comes at a time in which both Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville will be leaving this summer - exacerbating how much the Irons want to keep Bowen.
Making the move from Hull City in 2020, the winger has experienced some incredible highs at the London Stadium.
Taking on the captains armband, showing up in big moments, and winning the Conference League in 2023, Bowen is infatuated with the club.
Going down in the West Ham history books, actor and Irons fan Ray Winstone has been full of praise for the 29-year-old.
Ray Winstone hands tag to Jarrod Bowen after excellent West Ham career
Speaking to The Athletic, Winstone took at look at the most recent season, suggesting that the Hammers were just not good enough.
But, he still called upon Bowen when discussing his modern footballing view, despite the obvious exit links.
"I look at a player like Jarrod Bowen and see the kid giving 120 per cent every time he plays, like he was born and bred in the area. Love him to death," he said.
Naturally, Bowen's connections with the Dyer family do come in handy for rapport at the London Stadium.
But, it is simply the character he is.
Throughout his time in East London, not once has he believed his own hype, looked to force a move, or downed tools for the Hammers.
Bowen has remained consistent - remarkably consistent - and has adapted to each level in which the Irons have played at.
With 85 goals and 63 assists in claret and blue, he will always be remembered fondly by supporters.
How will West Ham fans feel about a Jarrod Bowen departure?
This summer is simply huge for West Ham, as they aim to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
With this in mind, keeping hold of Bowen would almost ensure exactly that happens.
But, no fan at the London Stadium would have any real qualms either, if he were wanting to move on this summer.
At 29, he is no longer a spring chicken, and if he were to go on and fight for trophies, it would be likely that he would be supported.
However, this move has to come first, with his age potentially coming to the rescue of West Ham, who may get the chance to climb back to the Premier League with their talisman in just 12 months time.
