Porto could sign Luis Guilherme with West Ham exit now on cards

Luis Guilherme could still leave West Ham United in the coming hours with FC Porto named as a possible destination, according to Voetbal International.

The Dutch outlet reports that as Feyenoord prepare to launch a permanent or loan bid for the forward before their window closes on 4 February, Porto made one of their own [O Jogo, 3 February].

Guilherme, 18, has made just five Premier League appearances since signing for the Hammers for £25.5million last summer and is seen as a player they’d be happy to sell this winter.

Late Luis Guilherme transfer would be a gamble for West Ham

Though the London Stadium hierarchy have made it clear they’re willing to entertain bids for Guilherme before various winter transfer windows close around Europe, Graham Potter may see things differently.

Porto are also now in the final day of their transfer window, so things could move quickly.

The new Hammers boss has inherited a squad assembled strangely by Tim Steidten and Julen Lopetegui over the summer, with the £25.5m shelled out on Guilherme arguably the worst addition.

Talented players are plucked from Brazil at increasingly youthful ages, but Guilherme’s handling by the Irons – being left on the bench for most first-team fixtures – surely can’t be aiding his development.

For the time being, Potter will want to get the best out of the players he has at his disposal, and with that including Guilherme, don’t expect the Irons boss to willingly let the teenager leave so swiftly.

If the Irons can recoup most of the money they spent on Guilherme though, it would be increasingly difficult to turn that away now.
