Niclas Fullkrug centre of Fiorentina transfer merry-go-round amid £53.4m development
West Ham want Niclas Fullkrug off their books after the German failed to deliver during his spell in E20.
The former Borussia Dortmund star spent the second half of the 2025-2026 season out on loan at AC Milan but was unable to convince them of a permanent transfer.
The Hammers will be left scrambling looking for the best way to rid themselves of the 33-year-old, who ultimately was a flop.
Now, a new option for an exit has emerged out of Italy, and the Irons will be hoping it comes to fruition.
However, much of that exit also depends on moves made elsewhere with Fiorentina now in the fray.
And the Hammers will be keeping a close eye on the developing situation in Florence.
Fiorentina want Niclas Fullkrug - here is how it could happen
Getting Fullkrug's wages off the books will be a success for West Ham in this transfer window.
And as reported by Il Tirreno via Tuttomercato, Fiorentina could now be that solution.
The future of Moise Kean is uncertain in Italy, with the Italian holding a £53.4million release clause.
If nobody comes forward for the former Everton striker, then they report that Roberto Piccoli is likely to leave the Florence-based club.
In that event, Fiorentina will need a replacement and Fullkrug is a name that has emerged on their shortlist.
Parma's Mateo Pellegrino is Fiorentina's first-choice, but his £17.2m price tag is currently viewed as prohibitive, elevating Fullkrug among their options.
The Viola feel that a deal could be made for around £2.5m and that another loan to the Serie A could be an option they take up for Fullkrug.
The striker also has interest from Venezia as previously reported and reiterated by Tuttomercato
How much do West Ham actually value Fullkrug at?
While Fiorentina feel that Fullkrug could be signed for as little as £2.5m, the Hammers value the German at more than that.
According to The Athletic, the striker is said to be internally valued at £4m to £8m
The Hammers have also rejected approaches from sides who have offered to take Fullkrug on a free transfer
Additionally, they share that despite widespread reports, there is currently no intention of terminating the striker's contract.
The East London club clearly feel confident they can at least recoup some money for the 33-year-old.
