Maxwel Cornet in talks to terminate West Ham United contract for this reason

Maxwel Cornet has become somewhat of a forgotten figure at West Ham United.

It's been a huge summer of change at the London Stadium, yet some things simply have stayed the same.

After relegation from the Premier League, West Ham moved quickly to recoup fees in the transfer market.

Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville were headline sales in a period where over £150million was earned.

It took some time for Nuno Espirito Santo to enter the market himself, but with millions spent, things are starting to click.

Despite relegation and sales, Cornet simply hasn't had a look in.

What stage is Maxwel Cornet exit at?

West Ham are clearing their squad out, and it makes sense.

Cornet has endured three loan spells away from the London Stadium, one at Southampton and two with Genoa.

Neither led to anything for the Ivorian.

Now, the West Ham Way reports with ExWHUemployee that talks are underway to terminate his contract.

It expires in 2027 and if mutually agreed, it will allow Cornet to find a new club and hopefully get his career back on track.

As for a timescale, it appears to be very early.

It was very clear to see why the Hammers made this move.

Cornet was setting the Premier League alight with a struggling Burnley, and it only cost them £17.5million to make it happen.

After nine goals and two assists in 28 appearances at Turf Moor, it all went downhill rather quickly after that.

In 37 appearances for West Ham, on the other hand, he scored once.

Cornet did get seven assists in that time, but he was more known for injuries than goal involvements.

It's all come to the fore now in the Championship, with Nuno not making room for the Ivorian in his squad as he look for promotion.

Instead, he will move on.

The pressure of West Ham promotion is now on Jarrod Bowen, Manor Solomon, Edvin Austbo and Keiber Lamadrid.

As for Cornet, expect him out of the building soon.
