Mason Terry returns to West Ham as announcement made

Mason Terry has returned to West Ham United on deadline day.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper has been in West Ham's academy system since the age of nine.

He's not yet been able to ever make a competitive first-team appearance for the Hammers.

Terry has spent the last two seasons out on loan in non-league football with Braintree Town and Hornchurch.

However, earlier this summer he was rewarded with the biggest move of his senior career so far.

Why is Mason Terry back at West Ham?

Terry signed for Port Vale in early July on a season-long loan deal.

However, Port Vale have confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that his loan agreement with them has been terminated.

The Valiants state that he picked up a training ground injury and will now return to West Ham to complete his rehab.

Port Vale are listing his injury as a hand problem, which obviously is a concern given the position he plays.

So, how well did Terry fare out on loan with Braintree last season, and will it have caught Nuno Espirito Santo's attentions?

How Terry delivered Braintree cult hero moment

Terry played 37 times for Braintree in the National League last season, keeping nine clean sheets and conceding 62 goals.

Braintree were relegated from the National League last term, but the Hammers loanee did still find a way to become somewhat of a hero with them.

In the fifth minute of added time in a National League Cup game against Truro City in January, Terry scored an equaliser to take the tie to penalties.

Braintree would end up losing the shootout, but the Irons youngster delivered a moment that will see him remembered at Braintree for many years.
