Manor Solomon’s contract examined after West Ham exploits

Manor Solomon has started his West Ham career very well.

The Israeli winger was signed in a deal believed to be worth £5million from Tottenham earlier this summer.

They could be forced to pay £2m in add-ons if the Hammers secure promotion back to the Premier League.

The Irons look like they are in a good position to do so, and Solomon has played a part in that.

The 27-year-old has notched two goals and one assist in seven Championship matches so far for the London Stadium outfit.

What is Manor Solomon's contract situation?

Solomon signed a three-year deal when he joined the E20 side from Spurs.

That is set to keep him in East London until 2029 at the very earliest if both sides fulfil the deal.

There is a one year option to extend for a further year, which means that he could be with Nuno Espirito Santo's side until 2030.

He is understood to be on £50,000-per-week, based on estimations from Valuball.

Solomon's performances so far are justifying that wage, but whether that is the case when it comes time to extend or allow him to leave remains to be seen.

How has Solomon performed so far for West Ham?

The underlying numbers suggest that Solomon has been a big contributor to the Hammers' positive start to the season.

He is averaging 1.81 shots and 1.97 chances created on per 90 minute basis in the second tier, according to Fotmob data.

The 49-cap international has completed 90.4 per cent of his passes, and has a cross success rate of 21.1 per cent.

Solomon has completed 66.7 per cent of his dribble attempts and averages 4.61 touches in the opposition box.

He is willing to help out defensively making 2.14 contributions, with 1.65 tackles, 5.27 recoveries and 0.16 clearances per game.

His exploits so far suggest that he is a vital asset for Nuno's team on both sides of the ball.

What has Solomon said about West Ham?

Solomon has made it clear that he knows what is at stake for the Hammers this season.

Speaking when he signed for the Irons, he said: "I know West Ham have a rich history both in the Premier League and in Europe.

"It's a club that won a European trophy just three years ago, and I think this is where the club should be, and I'm here to help the club and to be where it belongs.

"Of course, our first task is to get promoted, to go back to the Premier League."

That attitude will have helped him to win over supporters initially, but ultimately it is his showings on the pitch that will determine how he is perceived.
