Manchester City want to sign West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta this summer
West Ham United are set to receive strong interest from Manchester City for midfielder Lucas Paqueta in the summer transfer window, according to HITC.
Writing on their website (20 February), the news outlet report that Pep Guardiola’s side are “determined” to sign the Brazil international for their squad during the next transfer window.
City wanted to sign him last year before a betting charge saw the deal collapse, but with an £85m release clause set to become active in the summer the super-rich Premier League giants are set to revisit their interest.
West Ham are powerless to stop Lucas Paqueta leaving
This is not what West Ham fans will want to hear, because the truth is that the club are totally powerless to stop Paqueta leaving if he wants to.
Manchester City are absolutely loaded and have no problem paying big fees to get transfers done, just like they did with Jack Grealish and Josko Gvardiol.
If they decide that the player has proven his value to be worth £85m, then the release clause will get triggered with minimal fuss likely and Paqueta will undoubtedly be keen to go there and play at the highest level.

Obviously that makes building for the future more difficult and whether it’s David Moyes in the hot seat or a new manager, they’re going to have a huge summer trying to replace him.
The club need to spend the next few months trying to convince Paqueta that he should stay at the London Stadium, and maybe give him a new deal to reflect that and keep the vultures away.
