Lucas Paqueta exit twist as loan-to-buy on the cards for West Ham ace
Flamengo are looking to take West Ham United ace Lucas Paqueta on a loan-to-buy deal in the winter transfer window, according to Move10.
The Brazilian outlet reported via the OneFootball website (1 February) that Flamengo want to take the midfielder “out of the spotlight” amid his ongoing spot-fixing case with the FA – charges he has vehemently denied – and are ready to play a “trump card” to take him away from England.
The midfielder has been linked with a London Stadium exit for some time now and it seems that the Brazilian outfit are gearing themselves up to make a move for the former Lyon man.
West Ham United can’t allow Lucas Paqueta to leave before 3 February
Paqueta’s case for his alleged breaches of the FA’s betting rules – which Paqueta denies – is set to start in March, but it feels like the Brazilian is too important for the Hammers to let go of halfway through the season.
Especially when he’s one of Graham Potter’s best attacking options to help contribute further up the pitch due to the injuries to both Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio.
Paqueta has been one of West Ham’s best players since he arrived at the London Stadium and although there have been times when fans have felt like he could’ve done better, he always seems to show up a game or two after.

While this sort of inconsistency isn’t ideal for a Premier League side, with the position they currently find themselves in on the Premier League table, they need to take any sort of creativity and goals they can get their hands on.
So, especially with just three days left in the winter transfer window, it feels silly for the Hammers to even consider his exit, especially if they’re not getting any money for the playmaker straight away.
