Josh Doig speaks out about Hibernian future amid West Ham transfer interest
Hibernian left-back Josh Doig is fully committed to the Edinburgh club amid reported interest from West Ham.
According to The Times, the Irons have joined the race to sign the 19-year-old in the last week with Watford, Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, Manchester City and Celtic also keen on him.
It is understood that Hibs want £5million for the Scottish full-back, who’s adamant that he wants to stay at Easter Road past this transfer window.

Doig told The Times: “There’s always speculation, I know that myself. For me, just now, it’s about getting back fully fit, because I was out with Covid. I think it’s taken away my edge and my fitness a wee bit.
“For me, just now, I’m so happy at Hibs; I absolutely love it here. They’ve made me the player I am, taking me in when I had just turned 17.”

Quality young back-up
Doig is someone with a big future ahead of him.
He’s only 19-years-old but the teenager impressed in the Scottish Premiership last season as he made 28 league appearances for Hibs as they finished third.
Speaking to The Express [print edition, 29 June, page 57], Charlie Nicholas labelled Doig as a player who “could become the next Kieran Tierney”.
Tierney’s is one of Scotland’s best players in recent years and is doing really well at Arsenal.
If we sign him and he becomes as good as Tierney, then David Moyes has played an absolute blinder.
West Ham could do with a new left-back.
Arthur Masuaku has had injury issues and Moyes has shown he likes to play Aaron Cresswell as a left-sided centre-back at times.
Doig is someone who could play in Masuaku’s shadow, learn the game and eventually become a really valuable player for the Hammers.
And if he costs £5million, that would be an absolute steal.
This one is a no-brainer.
In other West Ham news, the Irons are in talks to sign this player who could be a mainstay for Moyes next season.
