James Ward-Prowse on verge of West Ham United exit – Fabrizio Romano
Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal to sign James Ward-Prowse from West Ham United, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist reported via X (30 August), that Ward-Prowse’s move from the London Stadium to the City Ground is now “Here we go!”
A loan deal is almost complete with the clubs and the player now just waiting on formal steps.
James Ward-Prowse set to join Nottingham Forest from West Ham United
This was an important move for both the Hammers and Ward-Prowse himself.
It has been made pretty clear that the midfielder was not a part of Julen Lopetegui’s first-team plans at the London Stadium. Therefore, Ward-Prowse needed to secure a move to ensure he played regularly next season.
This might have come as quite a shock to some considering the ex-Southampton ace only signed for the Hammers last summer. However, he was a David Moyes signing, and Lopetegui was clearly not a fan.
The Argentine has different ideas of how he wants his team to play. As a result, there was no space for Ward-Prowse in his plans.
The 29-year-old will no doubt be a first-team regular at Nottingham Forest, and his experience could help the club in any potential relegation fight.
Should he impress, that will either help him secure a permanent transfer next summer or perhaps change Lopetegui’s mind. However, that seems less likely.
