West Ham United will know exactly what they're doing if Kim Min-su signs this summer.

The need for West Ham to strengthen down their left wing is set to become pressing in the near future.

Crysencio Summerville is widely reported to be close to sealing a switch to Serie A giants Roma, whilst he's also got plenty of other suitors across European football.

His potential successor could be Min-su, with the 20-year-old scoring six goals and providing four assists in Spain's second division whilst on loan with FC Andorra in 2025-26.

The South Korean youth international is a product of Girona's academy system, having joined the La Liga outfit in 2022.

And, despite the fact he's still taking his first steps in his senior career and is somewhat of an unknown quantity, West Ham chiefs will know who they see in him.

How closely Kim Min-su and Crysencio Summerville compare

West Ham Zone has reported on claims West Ham have added Min-su to their left-wing transfer shortlist this summer.

A report from Girona-based journalist D.C.C on X has claimed that whilst no discussions between the two camps have taken place, the Hammers are interested in the young winger.

Naturally, his signing would present some obvious risks for the Irons, as he does lack experience and he could struggle to adapt to English football.

But, as displayed by their strikingly similar numbers in 2025-26, playing the long game with Min-su could lead to West Ham landing their eventual Summerville successor.

Min-su stands at approximately 5'10" tall, whilst Summerville is around 5'9", so they both share a very similar physical profile to one another straight off the bat.

As per FotMob, Min-su played 2,401 minutes of league football last season with Summerville playing 2,480 minutes, so they have an almost identical sample size from which to analyse their numbers from.

Starting with Min-su, last term he registered an expected goals (xG) of 5.59, an expected assists (xA) of 2.71, created 32 chances, and completed 1.76 dribbles per 90.

In comparison, Summerville had an xG of 5.17 and an xA of 3.42, whilst he created 28 chances and completed 1.85 dribbles per game respectively.

That's not where the similarities end in their respective campaigns either, as Min-su missed six big chances to Summerville's seven, and both scored three goals with their right foot.

Min-su's 0.61 blocks per game was also close to Summerville's 0.76, and his four goals from inside the box was just one fewer than the West Ham star's five.

Summerville had a slightly worse goals per 90 with 0.18 to Min-su's 0.22, and the former put 18 shots off target to the latter's 20 respectively.

These numbers are of course caveated by the fact Min-su was playing in the Spanish second division, but has he been entrusted to step up to Girona's first-team yet, and if so, how did it go?

Why West Ham are eying a move for Kim Min-su as exit update drops

Min-su already has Champions League pedigree

Evidently a highly-rated prospect out of Girona's youth system, Min-su has already flirted with a first-team role with the Catalonians.

In total, he's made seven competitive senior appearances for Girona, all of which came in the 2024-25 season.

Three of those were in La Liga (although it only culminated in 20 minutes on the pitch), two came in the Copa del Rey, one in the Copa Catalunya and one in the Champions League respectively.

His longest cameo in La Liga was his 18 minutes from the bench in a 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad, but he did play a full 90 minutes in the Copa del Rey during a 4-0 win over CD Extremadura respectively.

Min-su's lone Champions League outing was in a 4-0 loss to PSV, where again he came on from the bench, but this time for just 11 minutes.

Indeed, he wasn't able to provide a goal contribution of any kind across those seven appearances, but it did show how highly he's thought of there to be getting those kind of opportunities already.

Patience may be required, but there are some positive signs that West Ham could have a gem on their hands if they were to sign Min-su this summer.
