How West Ham could land a true bargain as Arsenal set Reiss Nelson fee
West Ham United have been informed how much it will cost to sign Reiss Nelson from Arsenal on a permanent deal.
The two London clubs remain in negotiations over a deal for the 26-year-old.
Nelson has been on Arsenal's books since 2008 and has made just shy of 100 senior appearances.
Nelson is now set to leave Emirates Stadium on a full-time basis, with a drop down to the Championship a possibility.
And in an age of inflated fees for English talent, West Ham could land themselves a bargain in Nelson.
How much do Arsenal want for Reiss Nelson?
West Ham were initially linked with a loan move for Nelson, whose career has stagnated of late.
Once hailed a "special" talent by Mikel Arteta, it is fair to say the former England Under-21s international's Arsenal career has never truly taken off.
That is not to say he cannot do a job for West Ham in the Championship, however, especially now he is available for such a small amount.
As per Sami Mokbel via BBC Sport on Thursday, Arsenal are looking to land £3million from Nelson's permanent sale to West Ham.
Talks remain ongoing at this stage, though for such a small amount you have to wonder what the Irons are deliberating over.
However, there is then the small matter of Nelson's own plans.
How does Nelson feel about London Stadium move?
It has previously been reported that Nelson's stance on a move down a division is unknown.
The winger would have to accept a drop in wages compared to what he is used to right now.
He would also be taking a risk in that, while West Ham are favourites for promotion, there are never any guarantees of getting back to the top.
At the same time, playing regularly in the Championship provides Nelson with a chance to reset, so to speak.
And for West Ham, they would be landing a player still not at his peak for what is effectively peanuts in the current market.
