Edson Alvarez could soon be packing his bags at West Ham United.

The Mexico international has returned to the Hammers after a loan spell at Fenerbahce, but doesn't seem to have a future under Nuno Espirito Santo.

With the Irons demanding £12.8million for the 28-year-old midfielder's exit, it remains to be seen who will match that price tag.

Alvarez is attracting plenty of interest in the transfer window, with the outcast's current contract at London Stadium expiring in 2028.

While the Mexican ace has struggled for form in recent seasons, he showed glimpses of his talent at the 2026 World Cup.

The midfielder's exit has become a bit "complicated", but there may be a way out for him this summer.

Alvarez joined the Hammers from Ajax for around £32m in 2023.

The Irons were looking to replace Declan Rice and set their sights on the Mexico international, who has struggled in E20 after a decent debut season.

According to De Telegraaf on 28 July, Ajax are looking to bring the midfielder back to the Johan Cruijff Arena.

The Eredivisie giants will need to sell players before they can afford Alvarez's permanent transfer from the East London club.

What could unlock the deal is that the Hammers still owe the Dutch side £11.9m for the Mexican ace, their final instalment payment.

Real Sociedad are also interested in the midfielder and have submitted an offer to acquire 50 per cent of his rights, something Ajax are exploring alongside a possible loan, but the Irons want a permanent transfer.
