Many sides have been looking into possibly taking the West Ham outcast out of East London.

However, many of those opportunities have emerged as loan deals with the Hammers likely wanting him off the books for good.

Now, Olympiacos could be the saviour the Irons have been looking for this window.

That is amid reports of a permanent offer being put on the table for the midfielder.

How much have Olympiacos bid for Edson Alvarez?

West Ham have been handed the chance to see Alvarez leave on a permanent transfer this window.

Olympiacos had entered the fray for Alvarez, but is now seems they have formalised their interest.

According to Super Deportivo in Mexico, the Greek league giants have tabled a bid in the region of £6.8million for the midfielder.

The top of the report shares that Olympiacos are "pushing hard" to get this transfer over the line amid competition from Real Sociedad, who have so far only indicated they want a loan.

Despite the bid, the information from the outlet shares that no "definitive agreement" has been made between any club for Alvarez.

Alvarez is said to be carefully reviewing his options, with the 28-year-old wanting to remain on the elite end of European football.

On one hand, La Liga would offer a higher level of football for the Mexican, but both outfits are in the Europa League for the 2026-2027 season.

West Ham, though, would certainly prefer the guarantee of ending their relationship with Alvarez.

Why West Ham should accept Alvarez offer this summer

While the bid from Olympiacos is far below what they could have received should Alvarez have remained at Fenerbahce, it seems hard to see how they could get close to that.

After making a loan move to the Turkish side last season, the Istanbul-based outfit had the option to buy him for £19.4m.

But after injury issues curtailed his season, it was no surprise that he returned to West Ham this summer.

Now, with an offer to end the Hammers' ties with the Mexican on the table, they should simply accept it.

£6.8m is quite a bit lower than what they initially wanted, but after last season, his price was only ever going to drop.

At least this way, West Ham guarantee he is off the books, further alleviating some financial concerns.
