West Ham are now pushing to secure a deal for Troy Parrott.

Interest in the Irish striker has been emerging over the last week but it had simply remained at that.

Talks were opened with AZ Alkmaar as the Hammers looked to agree a deal to bring Parrott back to London.

The striker is a former product of Tottenham's academy, and has plentiful experience in England as well as the Championship.

After impressing last season, the 24-year-old has emerged as a target for a number of clubs, including those competing in Europe.

West Ham have made their interest in Parrott concrete amid reports that an offer has now been sent.

According to the Daily Mail, an offer in the region of £15million has been tabled for the AZ Alkmaar striker.

As West Ham await a response on their bid, it has also been said they are willing to go to over £17.5m in order to beat the competition to his signing.

Former Champions League winners Porto are also in the mix for the forward.

Despite AZ Alkmaar being set to compete in the Europa League this season, Parrott is reportedly open to moving to West Ham.

And that is while they are still in the Championship.

With a bid now said to be in, hopefully talks can begin to progress smoothly with a deal agreed before the opening game of the league season.

How Parrott's exit looks to be moving closer

Parrott has not been shy about his desire to seek a new challenge and his AZ Alkmaar manager has not either.

Leeroy Echteld has admitted that Parrott is seeking a move and that may be playing into his decision making in the Netherlands.

After being AZ's top scorer last campaing, Parrott was dropped to the bench in their most recent league match against ADO Den Haag on Saturday, 8 August.

The Irishman was brought on as a 56th minute sub, with AZ's two goals in the 2-0 win arriving after his introduction.

Although, he had no involvement in any of the two goals.

Nonetheless, the decision to bench Parrott may be a sign of AZ looking to protect their key asset, only utilising him when in dire need of a goal.
