Jarrod Bowen's contract agreement at West Ham contains a release clause.

The 29-year-old has adjusted his deal, but the length of the deal remains the same, running until 2030.

He committed his immediate future to the Hammers, ending months of speculation about his future.

West Ham Zone covered Bowen's fresh commitment to West Ham when it was announced on Friday.

Now, new details are starting to emerge about the agreement which will see the England star play in the Championship next season.

One aspect of the deal which will benefit Nuno Espirito Santo's side is the release clause, but its exact figure was not revealed.

How much could Jarrod Bowen's release clause be worth for West Ham?

It seems like the Hammers have been preparing for a Bowen exit at some point.

The Athletic's Roshane Thomas reported on Saturday that the deal that has been agreed contains a clause that would allow the star to leave next summer.

It becomes active if the Hammers do not achieve an immediate Premier League return for next season.

Bowen is valued at £25.5million by football website Transfermarkt, but the clause may be slightly less, around the £20m mark.

Given that he showed that he can still cut it in the top flight with nine goals and 11 assists last season, that may seem like a surprising number, but it makes sense.

The Hammers may have made such a concession to get him to agree to terms, with the player knowing that he would be handed an easier route out of the club.

They may well see it as unnecessary anyway, with confidence in their ability to come back up.

What does the release clause mean for West Ham?

The Irons will have an increased chance of promotion after keeping their star man around.

The London Stadium side are now in pole position to finish in the top two, as he will surely rip up the second tier, and all sides can walk into the sunset happily ever after.

It ultimately means that if Bowen is to stay long term, they need to secure a return to the elite level.

If not, he will depart and the Hammers can have zero complaints about that.

They may also be priming youth academy talents to make the step up, which would save them some money.
