How Arne Engels has nearly doubled West Ham's investment already amid new transfer reveal
Arne Engels has taken time to get going at West Ham United.
The summer signing was thrown straight into the deep end by manager Nuno Espirito Santo as he got acclimated to English football.
Since making the switch from Glasgow to London, the 23-year-old has made himself a favourite of the Portuguese manager.
He started the first 10 available games in the Championship since arriving in E20.
Irons fans did have to wait some time for the midfielder to showcase his true quality, and why the London Stadium side forked so much money out for him.
The Belgian, at least recently, has been proving to be the signing the Hammers expected, and so much more.
How much is Arne Engels worth at West Ham now?
West Ham could almost already double their money on Engels if they wished.
The Belgian midfielder's impressive performances over the last few weeks have seen a drastic rise in his stock.
According to CIES Football Observatory's fair market value tool, Engels has now leapfrogged into first place as West Ham's highest-valued player.
Previously, Taty Castellanos held that honour, being second overall in the Championship, and worth a minimum of £34million, with a maximum of £38m.
The latest updates to their market values now put Engels' estimated worth up from £37.7m to £43.5m.
The former Celtic midfielder joined the Irons back in the summer for £22m, so if you are to push towards the top end, the East Londoners have already seen their investment double.
Of course, so soon after signing him, the Hammers will not want to lose a player of Engels' calibre anytime soon.
And getting promoted will be one way to keep the potential vultures from circling next summer.
Where Engels would rank among West Ham's biggest sales
In a hypothetical sense, at the prices listed on CIES, Engels would actually rank quite high on West Ham's all-time sales.
Should be sold at any time for those aforementioned estimates, that would place him fifth in the Hammers' record sales.
Moving above Lucas Paqueta, and falling in behind Mohammed Kudus on the list.
Selling Engels will not be on the agenda anytime soon, but the recruitment department can rest knowing they got this one spot on.
