West Ham United centre-back Kurt Zouma is set to join Al-Orobah on an initial loan with a mandatory buy clause, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian transfer specialist reported via his personal X account [26 August] that the two parties have come to an agreement over the 29-year-old Frenchman.

It is understood that Zouma is set for a medical with the newly promoted Saudi Pro League side on Monday 26 August, having been pictured at an airport ahead of his London Stadium exit [Nawaf Al-Aqeel].

Kurt Zouma nears West Ham United exit

Fans have been begging for the centre-back to find a deal ahead of the 30 August deadline, with concerns arising that he could remain in London after failing a medical with Shabab Al-Ahli [The Times].

It is clear that the 29-year-old is surplus to requirement after Julen Lopetegui brought in a plethora of new faces during the summer transfer window, with Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo being signed.

Konstantinos Mavropanos also looks to have changed his fortunes around under the new manager, even despite being linked with a move away this summer, also playing a part in the underwhelming 2023/24 season.

Despite wearing the captain's armband last season, Zouma was at the centre of much criticism due to the number of goals being shipped under David Moyes' leadership.

Only Luton Town, Burnley and Sheffield United conceded more Premier League goals than the Hammers last term, one of the key points that eventually led to Moyes' exit at the end of the campaign.

Zouma also looks set to be sacrificed following a poor campaign in East London, closing in on a deal to join the Saudi Arabian club, and fans will be relieved to see a new deal nearing its completion.

The main priority at the London Stadium has changed from new signings to outgoings [Fabrizio Romano], and Zouma looks to be the first of multiple exits before the transfer window slams shut.
