Everything West Ham learned after Regis Le Bris' crystal-clear Wilson Isidor transfer admission

West Ham United may have to walk away from their pursuit of Sunderland's Wilson Isidor.

The Hammers have recently been credited with interest in the striker, who has become a fan favourite at the Stadium of Light over the last two seasons.

The Haiti international played his part in helping the Black Cats achieve Europa League qualification last season, as well as promotion to the Premier League over a year ago.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be keen to add one more number nine to his ranks, especially with ongoing uncertainty surrounding Taty Castellanos.

There have been reports to suggest the Argentine has no interest in playing in the Championship this season, but he got his own campaign off well, with a clinical brace in the Carabao Cup win over Portsmouth on Saturday.

Still, West Ham have been keen to sign Isidor, but a transfer may not happen if Regis Le Bris has anything to say about it.

West Ham have an interest in Isidor among Premier League sides, including Hull City and Ipswich Town.

There have been conflicting reports suggesting that Sunderland are either open to selling the 25-year-old or not, who scored six times in the top flight last season.

Hull are said to have made an offer in the region of £10million, while Ipswich have been reported to be readying a bid of £14m.

However, reporter for the Sunderland Echo, Phil Smith, has picked up words from Le Bris, who has spoken about Isidor after the striker netted in Sunderland's 2-0 pre-season win over RC Lens on Saturday.

Le Bris said: "No speculation. It's done; you can write it [he stays]. He's happy.

"We can't play 55 games with one striker."

The Mackems only have Brian Brobbey as their only other number nine option, and so Europa League football on top of everything else backs up Le Bris' point.

How West Ham can act on Isidor latest

West Ham have learned that Le Bris and Sunderland are clearly playing hardball regarding Isidor.

While it's fair enough that the Black Cats wouldn't want to sell unless an offer too good to turn down came in, the Hammers can't afford to overspend.

Not only this, but it could also show that they may have to overpay for Sunderland's Simon Adingra.

The Mackems have shown fantastic transfer business in the past couple of years.

That said, if you had to take an educated guess on who would be getting the better end of the potential deals for Adingra and Isidor, you would expect Sunderland to have their own way with West Ham.

The Hammers should walk away and move on to other targets.
