Evan Ferguson transfer: West Ham finally close in on deal
West Ham are finally closing in on a loan deal for Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, according to the Irish Independent.
The newspaper reports in its print edition (back page, 29 January) that the Hammers have pushed on with an approach to seal a loan move for the Irish forward.
It states that the Irons face competition from Bournemouth, Tottenham, Bayer Leverkusen and Marseille for the 20-year-old’s services.
A move to the London Stadium could see Ferguson reunited with Graham Potter who handed him his Seagulls debut in 2022.
West Ham desperate for a striker
The East London club are desperate for attacking reinforcements as Potter attempts to revive their season after the dismal reign of Julen Lopetegui.
Summer signing Niclas Fullkrug and veteran Michail Antonio are ruled out for a significant period and top goalscorer Jarrod Bowen is also injured at the moment.
Ferguson would get regular game time at the London Stadium because of the lack of options and his previous relationship with the manager.

Brighton are ready to accept a permanent transfer, so there could be a chance for the Irons to seal an option to buy for the promising forward. [The Athletic]
That would future-proof the Hammers in a difficult position with Antonio’s future up in the air and Fullkrug failing to impress so far since his summer arrival.
It remains to be seen whether Ferguson joins but it promises to be an exciting end of the winter transfer window for supporters.
In other West Ham news, a £12.5m Hammers star is expected to leave before the deadline on Monday.
