Door could open for Newcastle United to hijack West Ham bid to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja

West Ham United’s pursuit of Armando Broja is in danger as Newcastle United could swoop in and hijack a move for the Chelsea striker, according to iNews.

The news outlet reported on Monday (18 July) that the Irons have offered almost £30million for the 20-year-old Albania international but Chelsea would rather send him out on loan again after a successful stint at Southampton last season.

It is understood that Chelsea’s preference “could open the door for Newcastle” to move in and sign Broja while it doesn’t seem as though Everton, who are also interested in him, will be able to swoop in.

Worrying

West Ham absolutely need to sign a striker.

It’s no secret that David Moyes has to add to that position this summer and that seems to be holding us back a bit in the transfer market.

Are clubs holding out for more money from us? Or are we just barking up the wrong tree.

Broja is a great young striker and for £30million, we’d be bagging ourselves homegrown talent who’s proven in the Premier League with his best years ahead of him.

Moyes is absolutely on the right track with this one but Chelsea seem as though they’re sticking to their guns – they don’t want to lose the Slough-born Albania international.

And if Newcastle offer them a loan bid, that could change things dramatically from West Ham’s point of view.

The Telegraph claims we’re in advanced talks to sign Broja but you can imagine that they’ll break down if Chelsea are offered what they want by Newcastle.

There’s been a lot to criticise the Irons for over the years in the transfer market but we’re not sure they can do much more here other than offering Chelsea a fee that Broja simply isn’t worth.
