David Moyes makes Blackburn striker Brereton Diaz number one target at West Ham
David Moyes has made Blackburn goal machine Ben Brereton Diaz his top transfer target at West Ham for the rest of January, according to The Mirror.
The newspaper reported via their print edition on Thursday [20 January, page 60] that Moyes wants to add to his striker options before the window closes on 31 January and Brereton Diaz, 22, is now “at the top of his shopping list”.
It is understood that a move for the Stoke-born Chile international would be costly as Blackburn demand £25million for their 20-goal star.

Leeds and Sevilla have already backed out due to Blackburn’s valuation of Brereton Diaz but while Moyes “faces a massive obstacle” to sign the striker, he seems determined to get a deal done.
The Mirror adds that Brighton are also monitoring Brereton Diaz’s situation.
Goals, goals and more goals
Brereton Diaz has been on fire for Blackburn this season and his goals are a major reason as to why Tony Mowbray’s side are third in the Championship and level on points with second-placed Bournemouth.
It’s been no secret for the last 12 months that West Ham are short of a striker.
When Sebastien Haller was sold to Ajax last January, many expected Moyes to go straight back into the market and sign a replacement who could be a back-up option behind Michail Antonio.

However, we’re into the third transfer window where the Irons have been able to sign a replacement for Haller and so far, there’s no sign of anyone coming in.
Moyes seems to be struggling to either justify spending such a large sum of money on a second-choice striker or convince a good enough striker to come to the London Stadium to sit behind Antonio in his pecking order.
Either way, we’re doing well without a back-up.
Brereton Diaz has been in white-hot form for Blackburn this season, netting 20 goals in 27 Championship appearances.
He was dubbed as “unbelievable” by Blackburn’s official Twitter account in November – and that just about sums up the Chile international’s form this term.
We’d be over the moon if West Ham signed Brereton Diaz but it doesn’t seem likely right now, unless the player himself pushes for a move.
