Celtic make Callum Wilson approach to win West Ham striker transfer race
Callum Wilson has been offered an escape route out of the London Stadium.
Wilson wants to leave West Ham on a free transfer this month, despite the fact that his contract expires in the summer, with a mutual agreement close.
The 33-year-old has made 17 Premier League appearances and scored four goals for West Ham this season, but he’s now been moved down the pecking order as a result of transfer activity.
Pablo completed his move to West Ham from Gil Vicente on 2 January, before Taty Castellanos signed for the Hammers just three days later from Lazio.

Celtic test Callum Wilson transfer waters
Wilson looks to have his heart set on leaving West Ham before the window shuts, and he doesn’t appear to be short of suitors.
Sevilla have been strongly linked with Wilson, with the experienced striker evidently desperate to prove that he can still be a key player for someone willing to take a chance on him.
But, in the hope that a move to Spain isn’t what he’s looking for, Celtic have now enquired over his availability, as per Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph.
It’s stated that Celtic are attempting to gauge Wilson’s interest in a possible move to Glasgow this month, but Martin O’Neill’s side do face competition from clubs in England and Saudi Arabia.
Wilson may be better off in the blue side of Glasgow
Celtic would present an interesting opportunity for Wilson, as he does still have the feel of a player who could score plenty of goals in Scotland if he stays fit.
However, Parkhead may not be the wisest of the two sides of Glasgow to join, as O’Neill has several centre-forward options at his disposal already.
Daizen Maeda has seven goals and five assists to his name this term, whilst Johnny Kenny has shown plenty of potential. Callum Osman and Kelechi Iheanacho are also still to return from injury.
- Wilson played 130 times for Newcastle and scored 49 goals before his West Ham move
- He also scored 67 times in 187 games for Bournemouth
- He’s averaging 0.44 goals per 90 in the Premier League this season, per FotMob
However, Danny Rohl is desperate to sign a new striker this month, and Wilson could evoke memories at Ibrox of Jermaine Defoe’s fruitful few years for them as his career came to a close.
Either way, he won’t be at the London Stadium by February.
