Callum Wilson shares final West Ham United message as Brentford transfer confirmed
Callum Wilson has now officially left West Ham United.
After weeks of speculation surrounding his contract expiry, the striker has now joined Brentford.
It keeps Wilson in the Premier League, after links to more than one club.
There were hopes that the England international would remain at the London Stadium under Nuno Espirito Santo, but they've been dashed.
Wilson endured a rollercoaster year at West Ham, almost leaving midway through the season before scoring some important goals.
His last-minute at Tottenham will be remembered fondly, but he couldn't save the Irons from relegation in the end.
Callum Wilson says new farewell to West Ham
Despite the small hope of a new deal, it's no surprise to see the attacker remain in the Premier League.
Following Mateus Fernandes' move to Tottenham, Wilson is also staying in London with the Bees.
Despite Brentford confirming the move on Thursday, Wilson still had time to send one latest message to the Hammers.
"Thank you to everyone associated with West Ham," he wrote on Instagram stories.
"Although it was a short time wearing the shirt, I felt nothing but love from all you fans.
"Hope you can get back where you all belong."
Callum Wilson ignores Nuno Espirito Santo
It was well documented that Nuno was a driving force behind a possible exit for Wilson in January.
Wilson held talks with Nuno about leaving, but that was then backtracked on by those in the boardroom.
Despite scoring several important goals in the survival race, something which Pablo never did after signing, he kept being left on the bench.
There was clearly a crack in the relationship between the pair, so went it was confirmed that Nuno would be staying, Wilson leaving was simply obvious.
Despite needing those with experience in the Championship, this is a somewhat worrying exit, but something that couldn't be avoided.
West Ham need to get cracking in the transfer window now, as the exits start to slowly creep up at the London Stadium.
With more big names expected to leave, let's hope they have plans in place to really get serious about promotion.
