West Ham United look set to part ways with Callum Wilson when his contract expires at the end of June.

The former Newcastle star was arguably West Ham's biggest goal threat last season, outside of Jarrod Bowen, and yet Nuno Espirito Santo's treatment of him still raised questions.

Despite averaging 0.51 goals per game, Wilson was handed just 11 starts in the Premier League, with a total of 32 appearances.

It was his goals towards the latter stage of the campaign that provided the Hammers with some hope in their battle against the drop, which, in turn, led to reports suggesting they were going to extend his contract.

That never happened, and instead, the 34-year-old finds himself out of contract in a matter of days.

However, it seems unlikely that he will be without a club for long, with several Premier League clubs now mooted with an interest.

Callum Wilson's preference revealed

Given what he has achieved in the top flight throughout his career, it will come as no surprise that Wilson wants to stay in the Premier League.

That is according to a report from The Athletic, which also states that his exit from the London Stadium is "likely".

Hull City have been linked with Wilson recently, and the report also throws two new names into the hat.

Both Brentford and newly-promoted Coventry City are said to be keen on a deal for the Englishman, with them monitoring the developments at the London Stadium.

The main reason Wilson's future at West Ham looks bleak

Wilson would bag for fun in the Championship, and in all honesty, the thought of that will be appealing to him, and for West Ham.

But perhaps not as much so as reaching a Premier League milestone.

Wilson is just five goals away from 100 in the top flight, and if he were to stay with the Hammers, there's a good chance that he would never reach that tally.

By doing so, Wilson would join a relatively exclusive list of players to have achieved the feat, alongside Mohamed Salah, Didier Drogba and Thierry Henry, among others.
