West Ham United will officially be saying goodbye to Callum Wilson at the end of June when his contract expires.

The veteran forward had done a remarkable job for the Hammers, with all things considered with his playing time.

Wilson was often forced to play second fiddle at London Stadium, with manager Nuno Espirito Santo preferring other options at his disposal.

Nuno could now later regret his decision to put Wilson to the side ahead of the Championship season, as the Englishman is clearly still rated at a top-flight level.

While the Irons are set to play in the second tier, Wilson could yet again find himself in the Premier League.

Which Premier League team is looking to sign Callum Wilson?

Wilson, at 34 years old, has proven to be still be capable of performing at the top level.

He netted seven goals for the Irons despite averaging just 39 minutes per appearance in the Premier League.

West Ham would have done well to keep the Englishman at London Stadium for the Championship season, as his experience could have been vital.

However, even if he were to be offered a new deal, his treatment under Nuno may have pushed him to reject it anyway.

Now, Wilson is seemingly still rated as a Premier League forward, with Hull City now deciding as to whether to pursue the outgoing West Ham forward.

That is according to Hull Live, who say the Tigers are "monitoring the situation."

If Wilson does return to the Premier League, he will be looking to join an elite list of players.

Why West Ham will encounter Wilson regrets

There is no certainty over the future of any of West Ham's forwards this summer.

Jarrod Bowen has interest from within the Premier League, while Taty Castellanos is in the same boat.

Brazilian Pablo has also been touted to be seeking a move out of East London, with his agent offering him to clubs.

West Ham will likely need to bring in a centre-forward and there is no guarantee that the player will be a success.

But with Wilson, the Hammers would have known exactly what they were getting - a reliable and proven scorer in England.

Now, Wilson could be in line to shine once more in the top flight, while the Irons risk bringing in a striker that would not have the same level of impact.

Letting him leave on a free may ultimately turn out be West Ham's biggest regret this time next year.
