Arsenal valuation of Eddie Nketiah called into question as West Ham United circle
Charles Watts has expressed doubt about the £50million price tag rumoured for Eddie Nketiah, suggesting it’s unlikely any club would pay that much, including West Ham United.
Writing in Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing on Tuesday (July 2), the journalist claimed that while Arsenal are open to offers, and clubs like the Hammers, Fulham and Brighton have shown an interest, he feels £50m is an overestimate.
talkSPORT reported on 26 June that Arsenal are holding out for that fee for Nketiah, who has improved significantly under Mikel Arteta and has the potential to make a big impact elsewhere.
Despite this, Arsenal’s high valuation appears to be a strategic move in negotiations, and they expect to receive a big sum from the transfer.
“It’s simple business really, but I’ve not been told that the £50m figure is accurate,” Watts wrote. “Nketiah is a decent player though and I do think Arsenal should be getting good money for him this summer.
“Crystal Palace are long-term admirers of the striker and he’s been close to going to Selhurst Park on more than one occasion in the last couple of years. Fulham, Brighton and West Ham are also believed to be interested.”
Is £50m too much for Arsenal ace Eddie Nketiah?
Nketiah is an undeniable talent with a knack for finding the back of the net.
However, despite his potential, a £50m price tag seems excessive for a player who scored only five goals and provided two assists in 27 appearances last season.
Nketiah has shown flashes of brilliance, particularly during his loan spell at Leeds United, but he has yet to prove himself consistently at the highest level.
While Arsenal’s valuation aims to maximise his transfer fee, it might deter potential buyers like West Ham, Fulham and Brighton.

In today’s market, even promising players with limited first-team experience can command high fees, but setting the bar at £50m could hinder a realistic move for Nketiah.
A lower asking price might facilitate a transfer, allowing Nketiah to flourish elsewhere and Arsenal to benefit financially.
